When talking about computer viruses.....?

What is the difference between a bloodhound, trojan, a backdoor/haxdoor, etc.? (God, just even thinking about them makes me wanna puke. LOL)

When talking about computer viruses.....?nortonantivirus

Well those are all just figurative names...

The 3 main kinds are Virus, Trojan, and Worm...

The basic differences are...

Trojan horses are impostors鈥攆iles that claim to be something desirable but, in fact, are malicious. A very important distinction between Trojan horse programs and true viruses is that they do not replicate themselves. Trojan horses contain malicious code that when triggered cause loss, or even theft, of data. For a Trojan horse to spread, you must invite these programs onto your computers; for example, by opening an email attachment or downloading and running a file from the Internet. Trojan.Vundo is a Trojan horse.

What is a worm?

Worms are programs that replicate themselves from system to system without the use of a host file. This is in contrast to viruses, which requires the spreading of an infected host file. Although worms generally exist inside of other files, often Word or Excel documents, there is a difference between how worms and viruses use the host file. Usually the worm will release a document that already has the "worm" macro inside the document. The entire document will travel from computer to computer, so the entire document should be considered the worm W32.Mydoom.AX@mm is an example of a worm

Depends on how deadly or incapacitating the virus is. Antibiotics do not work against viruses and the only way to get over it is to fight with antibodies that humans produce naturally. If the virus is too strong and antibodies can't fight the infection fast enough then a virus could cripple a country or the world by either leaving people bed ridden or dead.
I would say "Death and Disease" would pretty much cover it.
Total extinction - otherwise, a nasty cold in the head.

Spybot - Search %26 Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S%26D is free.

Top site (free of viruses) for downloading wallpapers?

I think www.tucows.com, www.download.com are good sites. I haven't had any problems with them. The way I can tell if it's a good site is the ratings and when I check a site out. If it has a lot of pop ups that attempt to attack your screen, then it's a bad site possibly infected with adware and spyware. Also when you do download a wallpaper or screensaver, be careful to read everything on the download box that appears when it's downloading. Because right in the midst of your wallpaper or screensaver download, extra stuff that you don't want like toolbars containing spyware, adware, and possible viruses can be downloaded at the same time. It's your choice whether you want that toolbar or other additive or don't want it. Me, I don't want it so I uncheck it before going any further. That prevents my computer from getting infected.

Why does not the viruses have got the place in the classification of the organisms?

Viruses are neither animals nor plants. They are dead if they are not provided with living materials. When they find a host, only then, will they start to live, grow and multiply.

HI:

The basis for classification of organisms is their ability to reproduce autonomously. Viruses are a sort of bridge between the living and non-living.

They are living, in the sense that they can infect host cells, replicate their DNA, either using their own enzymes or more usually by hijacking the host machinery, for propagation. They are also non-living, bacause in the absence of any potential host cells to infect, they can remain dormant. In fact, they can be crystallized in their latent form but when presented with a host cell, they regain infectivity.

Their anomalous nature does not allow them to be part of the whole classification system.

Viruses have a huge classification system within themselves depending on various criteria, like the host they infect (bacteria, plants, animals), and very many sub-divisions within.

In the evolutionary tree, viruses are followed by intracellular bacteria, like Chlamydiae, followed by higher bacteria and eukaryotes.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Why do we get viruses?

Because malicious programmers write them. Their reasons for doing so vary, sometimes they want to make a company like MS look silly by exposing various security holes in their OS, and other times it's just because they are attention seeking losers who need to do something to compensate for the fact that they have never kissed a girl.

wich viruses r u talking bout?i mean viruses givin u diseases or comp virus?
Because viruses surrounds us, weather they are written or produced.
what kind of virus? if you say biologically, its either you caught it airborne. or you maybe have some bad environment.. i mean theres lot of pollution. other viruses are transmitted sexually. and others are transmitted by intaking them to their system.

if its technologically. you get virus through youre emails, and by visiting such websites. people(virus writers) want to scatter their virus for some reasons

Virus writers can have various reasons for creating and spreading malware. Viruses have been written as research projects, pranks, vandalism, to attack the products of specific companies, to distribute political messages, and financial gain from identity theft, spyware, and cryptoviral extortion. Some virus writers consider their creations to be works of art, and see virus writing as a creative hobby. Additionally, many virus writers oppose deliberately destructive payload routines.

but always remember... there are also good viruses..
we get viruses through internet , e-mails , downloading software and even sometimes from vcd .
they have evolved better than humans have and they can outfox us and infect us.

Their downfall is that they continue to kill off their host when it needs to survive for their own continued survival.

They're just too good at what they do. Too good for their own good.

(I assumed you were speaking about the non-computer variety)
