Does anyone know whether viruses are living of non living?

i think they are both but can someone prove me right or wrong

like what makes it seem living and what makes it nonliving

Viruses are considered non-living, because they don't meet all the qualifications needed to be considered living. I don't remember which ones they don't meet, but I know most scientists say they aren't living.

Non-living. They cannot reproduce on their own is the biggest one, can't remember the others though.
A virus is an entity that consists of protein and nucleic acids. Nucleic acids are the familiar RNA and DNA and carry and transmit the genetic code. The protein in viruses consists usually of a surrounding coat as well as several to many enzymes. Viruses do not contain metabolic machinery for converting substrates into energy and material. They rely upon living cells that they invade.

Viruses become attached to the membrane of a host cell and then inject their nucleic acids (RNA or DNA) into the host cell's genome. The viral nucleic acids as well as occaisionally viral protein then conspire to hijack the host cell's DNA and instruct it to code for viral nuclei acids and protein.

In this way the virus is replicated. The cell may be damaged by this activity by either host defenses or the fact that the normal cellular functions are interrupted.

Some feel that because viruses lack the internal metabolic machinery they fall somewhat short of complete life.
