Why aren鈥檛 all viruses as deadly as Marburg and Ebola?

Depends what you mean by "as deadly". I would say that the death rate from HIV is as high or higher. It just occurs over a longer period of time.

Much of this has to do with the evolution of the virus. A dead host cannot spread the virus as well as a live one. If the virus has a very high death rate, it will kill the host too quickly before it can spread. The longer the person lives with the virus, the longer they can spread it. Thus there is a stong pressure for the virus not to kill the host quickly.

Because all viruses don't cause you to bleed out your skin and eyeballs.
