this website should help you
I think you want a technical explanation of sorts. What is done is the virus is a program generated by symbol and letters and is made to fit in a hidden manner in the email itself or in an attachment. The hidden program could be in the form of an icon a symbol a picture a signature or whatever. You will not, of course, notice its a program in any way. This is an oversimplification but is basically how it is done. Yahoo, by the way, monitors these viruses and cleans emails, so you are offered fairly good protection on that matter. Of course, if a new one comes along and Yahoo isnt on top of it then that is a problem.
Obviously, whatever they have to send out has a virus on it and it is just being transferred from one account to another, just like a cold from one person to another.
