Can mac's get viruses?

i've been told, because of their processors they can't, but i'm not sure.

Can mac's get viruses?pc security

Yes, Macs can get Viruses and they are not actaully any more secure then a PC if you are using good Anti-Virus/Spyware protection and practice safe web browsing.

People "THINK" Macs can't get infected because there are just fewer threats out there for Macs. Macs make up less the 10% of all the computers in the entire world so it's just not worth the hackers time to create viruses and spyware that can infect them but there are plenty out there. Just not as many as there is for PCs.

The computers processor has nothing to do with it getting infected or not. It's all about your Operating System and your protection software. Macs have gained slightly in popularity so hackers are now starting to spend more time making viruses and spyware for them. Anyways, Macs don't use stupid special CPUs any more and just use regular Intels.

If you use REAL protection software, like something from Norton or WebRoot, and not the free junk that's out there AND practice safe web browsing then you have nothing to worry about. My current PC is almost two years old and I have never been infected with anything because I don't surf questionable web sites or use bittorrents or programs like Limewire.
