Are there any potential viruses to screen for when you receive an eBOOK, or should it be ok?

As long as the file extension is not an executable it should be ok. Executable file extensions include *.exe *.bat *.msi

Best way to be certain is to have anti-virus installed and enabled at all times, this should catch anything dodgy wether you scan it or not. I recommend AVG...http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fre...

If you download anything online anywhere there is a risk of a virus being present. The thing you need to consider is where you got it from. Is it a reputable site? Do they have a large fanbase? Do they have pornographic adds?

If any of these have answers that are negative in accordance with what one might call having "good morals" then you should scan it.

Thats a good question, I would never have realised that there could be in an ebook.

No wonder I've got so many knackered PC's!
its ok.
