It's not Limewire that gives you the viruses ... it's the people you're downloading files from USING Limewire that causes the problems.

Scan EVERY file you download before you open it .... if a virus is detected ... delete the file ... DON'T open it to see what it is

yes anytime you dl from a p2p program you have a risk of getting viruses and spyware/adware

if you want the pro version try downloading it off of limewire ;)

and also scan everything before and after extracting (not sure if thats necessary but im paranoid...)

o and if your going to download anything besides music (like a program or video) mix up the words because many of the viruses/bad videos name themselves whatever you type

that way the good files will be in the correct order while the bad stuff is in the order you typed

and avoid files that seem small

i think there is a virus that names itself whatever you type that is around 760KB (i havent used limewire in a while so i dont remember the exact size)
