How do i check for viruses on my Mac?

Macs generally do not get viruses, but f you are like me, you like extra reassurance that your computer is virus free. I went with ClamXav, and in the few times I've used it, I guess its good considering that its free. There is no full-scan on it, so you have to select each major folder (Apps, Library, system, users). Depending on how much space you used up, it may take a while. It did not pick up anything on my computer, so I do not know how it is with picking up viruses. My Dad bought Systematic, and likes it, but I disagree. It takes up wayyy to much HD space, and does not have some of the other feature you might see in Windows-anti-virus programs. However, since systematic is not free, I suppose it is a bit better than ClamXav, which is the only free anti virus I have seen for Mac.

Because the OS is Unix based (different security settings, root passwords, and the like) as well as the fact that Macs aren't targeted nearly as frequently as Microsoft you generally don't need to worry about anti-virus.

That's why it's more difficult to find one for Macs. If you're really concerned about preformance and such, you can always make an appointment to go into a Genious Bar at an Apple Store if there's one near you. They can give you really specific advice :)

u probably dont really need to because hacker really go after 95% of the population of windows people so they would not waste their time on mac users
