There are preventative strategies like vaccines, but there are no real cures. Some infections can be treated with interferons, but these usually have very little effect.

The only real defense against viruses when you contract an infection is your natural immune function.

Yes and no. Yes because for example Ribavirin, which is an anti-viral drug, is now used to cure hepatitis C virus.

And no because there are other anti-viral drugs now that are used as part of therapy but doesn't cure the disease, like herpes simplex virus, which the medication involves Aciclovir for example, but it can't really be cured totally.

There are anti-viral vaccines available too which prevents an individual from contracting the disease but not a 100 % that is. Like the vaccines against influenza and Gardasil against HPV.

There really aren't any cures for viruses because they are very complex and always changing. But we do have some god preventative measures like vaccines to help your body become immune to certain viruses.
