Two theories:

1) Some people are just nasty.

2) Some have theorized that companies write viruses and Trojans so that they can sell you software to protect from them.
To gain a sense of self accomplishment; impress their friends; piss you off; and to hurt companies that they have it out for.
What I feel is that most of the antivirus developers may be generating such viruses to boost their sale...! Bettter to safeguard our self.
