What do they get out of screwing up someone elses computer ? Shouldn't they put their knowledge to good uses, something to make them money...what's wrong with these people ???

It gives them a sense of acomplishment to be able to hurt others. They probably convince themselves they are not hurting poor people... but that is exactly who they ARE hurting, since well-to-do people can protect themselves better or replace their system.

No longer is malware made by teenage "script kiddies" for kicks.

Today it is more likely to be made by internet crime gangs. Placing advertising on your computer, recruiting your computer to be part of a botnet in order to send out thousands of pieces of Spam mail per hour, directing distributed denial of service (DDOS) against businesses to extort money, stealing bank account and credit card numbers.
