I believe it is several reasons they do this, many of these do not have a direct benefit or monetary compensation. Many people put in a lot of dedication to a task without a true seen benefit other than seen for themselves. Look at art, poetry, knitting, giant picture puzzles, etc.
1) Hatred or envy for another company or group of individuals such as Microsoft, Google, a political party, etc.
2) It is thrill seeking challenge not to get caught while bringing many computers down. To able to prove to yourself that you have mad L33T (elite) skills and to see where you rank.
3) Relates to number two, for fame and bragging rights. In some circles such people such as Kevin Mitnick, old school cyber hacker, are idolized.
4) Financial gains. Personal information can be sold, spamming service can be sold, Phishing for credit card, pay pal, stocks, money markets %26 bank accounts can be withdrawn from. I believe the fine line from malware/spyware to viruses should be erased. They all execute unauthorize code or transfer unauthorize info.
Why do people make new viruses each day? How do they benefit from it?free spyware
Because they are childish a$$holes who have no life.
